Tommy and Marv serenading us…

We had our Pedal for Prevention benefit concert at The Bluebird Cafe last night in Nashville, and what a night it was! The Bluebird is a great venue, extremely intimate, it only seats around 100 people, and it provided the perfect backdrop for the “unplugged” style songwriter night. It really is a treat to hear the artists who wrote so many of Country Music’s hits tell the stories behind their songs. Tommy Lee James, Marv Green, Richie McDonald and Terry McBride (I’m sorry Terry that I listed you behind Richie!) are all incredibly talented artists and put on an engaging and beautiful show.

Tommy kicked-off the show with “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful” and some highlights were Marv and Richie’s rendition of “Amazed” and Terry’s heartfelt tribute to Willie Nelson. We were also lucky enough to have Barbara Orbison (Roy’s Wife) of Still Working Music, and Dell Bryant the head of BMI  in attendance.

I was starstruck all night, and I can’t say thanks enough to Tommy for organizing the event for us, and also to Tommy, Marv, Richie and Terry for putting on such a great show! It was a perfect night all around, and we raised some money to help prevent child sexual abuse… What could be better?!

Today was a big day for Pedal for Prevention… Our bikes came in! We’ve been waiting anxiously for weeks to see our babies, and they did not disappoint! Steve, our guru at The Bike Shoppe was putting the bikes together for us when we walked in.

Our bikes are Fuji 2009 touring bikes, and we can’t thank The Bicycle Shoppe enough for getting on board with us and becoming our bike sponsor/outfitters. The champagne and army green paint job on the Fujis may not sound attractive, but in person it’s lovely to behold…

The next step is training! We have three months to get fit for our 4,000 mile ride. Training seems daunting at this point, but hopping on new bikes will certainly make the process a little easier!

It’s a great feeling walking into a bike shop, the smell of rubber, and the sight of all of those brand new bikes always makes me feel like a kid again!!

Charleston, SC
107 Days until Departure

Welcome to our new site, and a big thanks to Enjoy Taste for all the work they’ve put in to make the masterpiece that you now see.

Landon and I are gearing up for our ride and everyday that goes by, a lot is excitement is coupled with slight nerves. Yesterday we ordered our bikes and gear from our bike outfitters at the Bicycle Shoppe here in Charleston. Steve at “The Shoppe” was a huge help, and another thank you for their partnership with P4P. Our Fuji bikes are on order and should be in within the week!

We also have a couple of exciting fundraising events coming up over the next few weeks which we’ll certainly be keeping you up on.

April 29 at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, we’re having a benefit concert for our ride. The show starts at 9 and tickets are $15. Tommy Lee James, Marv Green, Terry McBride and Richie McDonald are headlining.

May 20th Anne at Charleston Stems is hosting a flower arrangement class for Mother’s Day. The class is $100 per person, and participants will be served wine and hoer d’oreves while they learn to create and arrange exotic bouquets. We’ve decided to call it “Petals for Prevention!” Ingenious, I know… (Thanks Elliott)
